On Monday, 19th March, Cigna UK HealthCare Benefits (UKHB) welcomed Enterprise Minister Fergus Ewing to the official opening of their new offices located at Clyde View.
The opening marks a significant occasion as Cigna expands their UKHB office space and continues to promote job growth in the UK. Along with UKHB, Cigna”s other three UK businesses - Health, Life & Accident, Global Health Benefits and Individual Private Medical Insurance are now fully operational in four UK cities – St Vincent Street in Glasgow, Knowe Road and Pottery Street in Greenock and Sutton in Surrey.
Mr. Ewing enjoyed a tour of the newly designed office space and talked to Cigna”s UKHB Senior Management Team about the company”s local growth strategies. This included plans to recruit up to 50 new employees in the next 2 years - news which is welcomed in Inverclyde.
The opening celebration was attended by Cigna employees and other Clyde View tenants. Mr. Ewing completed the visit by cutting the ribbon and declaring Cigna UKHB”s Clyde View office as officially open.
James Parker, Cigna UKHB’s Managing Director said: “We are delighted to welcome Fergus Ewing MSP to the official opening of Cigna”s Clyde View office. Continuing to develop and expand in Greenock is a testament to the area and the quality of staff available. This is an onward investment and shows that we are committed to Scotland.”
Enterprise Minister Fergus Ewing said: “Cigna UKHB”s decision to expand their Scottish operations is testament to skills of the local workforce, and Scotland's competitive business environment.
“The Scottish Government, Scottish Development International and Scottish Enterprise are working tirelessly to secure new investment and jobs and to capitalise on Scotland's reputation as a leader in financial and business services.
“The opening of these new offices demonstrates Scotland's attractiveness to inward investors and reinforces Cigna's commitment to working and growing their business from Inverclyde.”
Anne MacColl, chief executive, Scottish Development International, said: “Cigna UKHB's commitment to its Greenock base is further evidence of Scotland's growing reputation as the ideal place to locate and do business. Inward investment of this nature provides new jobs and delivers new business opportunities and supply chain development both across the local economy and throughout Scotland.
"Cigna UKHB is a forward-thinking company with ambitious growth plans for the future and this is exactly the type of investment that Scotland needs to remain competitive.
"Our message is clear - Scotland is very much open for business and ready to compete on a global scale.”
