Absence Case Manager

Purpose of the job/Key Objective:
The absence case manager will provide information and recommendations to our clients,
supporting them in managing their absent employees. The aim of absence management
is to ensure the right expert resources are applied at the right time – the ultimate
goal being to return a fit employee to work as soon as possible supporting them
through this process and advising them as appropriate.
Requirements of the role:
- Fulfil a lead nurse role – to have in depth knowledge of case management
and occupational health and be the point of contact for any assigned clients.
- To carry out initial evaluation and assessment of any medical,
social, domestic or workplace reasons for absence.
- Liaise with employee, employer, specialist and other providers
to determine correct treatment pathway, and make recommendations.
- Provide clear feedback to all parties on handling of the case with
outcomes ie managed RTW plans
- Comply with absence case management processes
- Manage own work load.
- Liaise and support onsite colleagues as appropriate
- Support account management team to ensure service delivery is within SLA
- Provide onsite support to client meetings either solo or with account
manager as agreed.
- Ensure correct data entry
- Provide clear and concise reports as required with appropriate
recommendations and support for the client.
- Highlight any areas for improvement to CIGNA management team, onsite
CIGNA staff and onsite OHP’s as appropriate.
- Maintain PREPP

- Experience of some form of vocational rehabilitation preferable.

Experience required:
- RGN/RMN, with significant nursing experience.
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload
- Proven interest in continuing professional development
