The hidden costs

CIGNA Parent Plan and Child Plan give you more than comprehensive healthcare cover. With our cash sum for surgical procedures you can also get help with the ‘hidden costs’ that are sure to occur if someone in your family needs surgery.

The cash sum you’ll receive varies depending on the surgery involved - the table below gives you an idea of how much. And because the hidden costs you may face will be unique to you, you can spend the cash sum anyway you like, covering anything from taxi fares to contributing to the cost of a holiday. For more details on your cover please see the List of Benefits.

Level 1 would pay out £300 An example would be removal of tonsils
Level 2 would pay out £500 An example would be repair of eardrum
Level 3 would pay out £800 An example would be removal of spleen
Level 4 would pay out £1200 An example would be decompression of spinal disc
Level 5 would pay out £3000 An example would be repair of heart valve

Naturally the hidden costs you encounter would be unique to your family and individual situation. You have the flexibility to spend the cash sum however you see fit - from mundane daily costs like taxis to and from hospital to a holiday to help you on the road to recovery.
